Well I think it’s about time I introduce the three gals who will be taking this journey.  In following with the “CDN” the gals are:

Cathy – Cathy started her motorcycle career in 1987 in Vancouver, BC.  She took her training course in Vancouver.  The first motorcycle that she bought was a 2001BMW F650.  She became a motorcycle instructor in Nova Scotia in 2006.  She presently rides a 2006 Suzuki C50 (800cc).  We have done a lot of riding together in the Maritimes.

Darlene – Darlene started her motorcycle career in 1992 in Yarmouth, N.S.  She took her training course in Yarmouth and in the fall of 1999 she took her motorcycle instructor course.  Her first motorcycle was a 1980 450 Honda CM.  She presently rides a 2002 Suzuki Intruder (1500cc).  Darlene is also a Chief Motorcycle Trainer.  She has done a lot to promote motorcycle safety in the Yarmouth area.  She belongs to a ladies group (NBA Club – and if you ask CBC Television what that stands for, they would say “No Boys Allowed”) and rides every Thursday evening with the ladies of that area.

Nancy – I got my motorcycle license in 1974 from the NS Registry of Motor Vehicles by driving around the parking lot.  In 1996 after several years of not riding I decided to get back into riding and took the training course.  I bought a 1981 Kawasaki 442LTD which I rode for several years.  I presently ride a 1998 Honda Pacific Coast and 2008 Suzuki C90T (1500cc).  I also did my motorcycle instructor course in 1999 and chief motorcycle trainer course with Darlene.

Now there are plenty of others who have expressed a wish to join us and you are more than welcome.  But word of warning – you’ll have to ride our ride!!!!!

Let me introduce our latest “hitchhiker” – Cheryl Hawkes.  Cheryl is a free lance writer who lives in Toronto.  We have a mutual friend in Halifax, Alison, who introduced us.  Cheryl had emailed and called to get some information on our trip.  Last Tuesday (July 28) she had emailed expressing her great interest in this journey and that she would follow it closely.  I returned her email with an invitation to join us starting in Ottawa – and the rest is history.  She had been on a motorcycle for about 20 minutes prior to this trip and now at the end she will log in about 6000 km.   She is with us until Calgary…  She has also been a great help with the photo taking – thank you…
